Community
At present, the CCB has four members who have made their final profession of poverty, chastity, and obedience, some temporarily professed and the rest under going formation. Forty blind people live in our communities, and include candidates for full membership, and long-term residents who participate in our life of prayer and work.
Our Generalate is located in Muringoor, Kerala, India. There are also other affiliated houses under our care (including prayer homes). Daily life in our communities reflects our combined active and contemplative charism, and is composed of shared work and study, scheduled around approximately six hours of common prayer and worship.
Applications to take up religious life in the CCB are accepted from single, blind, Catholic men, who have successfully completed their S.S.L.C. (10th class) exam. Individuals accepted take first vows after a total of three to five years as resident candidates and novices, which includes the completion of secondary school (Intermediate) for those who have not already done so. Men then complete another five years of formation before taking final profession, during which they undertake studies in philosophy and theology, and complete technical or Bachelors degrees, or advanced studies appropriate to our mission.
